First we work with the client to determine
exact needs and requirements for the position. Not only do
we get the criteria on the candidate, but we also formulate
a list of target companies with the client. These are typically
companies that the client competes with on a day to day basis
. . . often direct competitors. If the client is a high tech
start-up with a unique offering, the target list sometimes
consists of companies selling into the same market.
Either way, this target list is the basis
for all future activity in the search. The next job is research.
We use all available sources to learn about the target companies
and their people.
The next phase of the search is accomplished
by networking with executives and/or sales people within those
companies. At this point we are looking for referrals and
recommendations. This process is done confidentially, typically
without exposing the client’s name until we have a serious
candidate for the position. In many cases we do not give out
the client’s name (or identifying information) until
after we have seen a resume from the potential candidate.
Once we have a suitable candidate, we conduct
an interview using the client’s criteria as a guide.
If the results of this interview are positive for both parties,
we then submit the candidate’s resume with our comments.
The next step is taken at the direction
of the client. We will arrange telephone or on-site interviews
as preferred. Continued involvement is offered throughout
the remainder of the hiring process, as needed, until a hire
is made.
